G&G's booth at Shot Show 2010 (Also includes Top Tech products)

Last but not least... the G&G Booth.
Here we have the G&G version of the FN2000, the GN2000. This was a prototype unit that didn't yet have the hop-up unit installed, so there is a lot of mystery surrounding this one. The FN2000 certainly isn't for everyone, but the externals were a good match-up against the real thing.

The L85 is just plain cool... It's already released, but it's very unique and comes complete with pnumatic blowback. This thing comes in 2 varients: the A1 and the A2. The version pictured below is the longer variant, the L85 A1. I didn't really want to put it back down, but eventually I had to move on.

On the first wall, in addition to the bullpup L85 mentioned above, we have "stockless" variants of the M4. Instead of a traditional stock, these only have a weighted stock tube to help balance the weapon (Thanks to RJ @ Chairsoft magazine for that explaination after seeing my puzzled look). There are awesome for CQB scenarios. Underneath them were some prototypes of the G96 line of gas powered sniper rifles. Some of these bodies are made from real wood, a really nice touch.

The next wall shows the G&G Sig 550, now joined by 3 other length variants (The 551, 552, and 553). The build quality and overall look on these makes any Sig fan want to collect the whole set. At the bottom we have more variants of the G96 gas sniper rifles, we'll have a closer look at one later.

More prototypes are seen below. Unfortunately in an image deleting spree we lost the display of the upcoming SCAR Heavy, but we can confirm it is on the way.

These are a mix of all kinds of goodies...Some are entry level plastic bodies, some are the pro-line metal bodies, and some TopTech AEGs with blowback.

And even more goodies...

Here are some close-ups of the L96 gas sniper rifle. No release date or pricing information was available, but the L96 felt very sturdy. We are looking to add gas sniper rifles to our inventory, and this may be the one to finally do it.

And nogw for the EBR. Surprisingly light for such a big weapon. We will really be keeping an eye on this one.

G&G showed off a lot of goodies. As usual, there were a little light on the info, but we are used to that around here. Here is a video highlight of all the 2010 goodies

Magpul PTS Folding Pocket Gun (FPG) in action - Oh so sweet.

by Armorer 1/24/2010 10:47:00 AM

A nice little surprise at the 2010 Shot Show was the Magpul Folding Pocket Gun (FPG). This thing is just plain cool... Start with a little black box, and in less than a second (and a flick of your thumb) you can deploy it into an SMG.

Magpul FPG Folding Pocket Gun Folded

The Magpul FPG will first be released as a conversion kit, and is designed for the KWA/KSC 18C GBB Pistols. Some other brands/variants will be compatible using parts included with the kit, but full details have not been released yet.

The FPG has been in development in the Real Steel and Airsoft worlds for over a year. The design phase been long and difficult, as Magpul must not infringe on Glock patents with this product. As many airsofters are aware (and disappointed by!), Glock has been completely against licensing thier brand for airsoft. They are known for aggressively going after those making unlicensed clones. Magpul's FPG design has been engineered to accept a Glock slide and magazine without copying the mechanisms of the patented lower receiver. The carry handle/rail combination can be removed to allow the FPG to be stored easily. When attached, the weapon is deployed by flicking the charging handle with your thumb.

The rest is taken care of by the clever design... the stock and grip (complete with extended magazine!) unfold and lock right into place, making the FPG ready to fire As you can see in the picture below, Magpul has even designed the FPG's rail to accept accessories such as flashlights and lasers.

Collapsing the Folding Pocket Gun is a little more involved. The three main steps include folding in the grip (the mag stays in!), tucking away the foregrip, and finally closing the stock which will lock the entire unit shut. Once you run through this process a few times, it can be taken down in a matter of seconds.

Towards the end of this year. Magpul is looking to release a complete version of the FPG using KWA internals. Don't expect this sexy piece of kit to come without a heafty pricetag. Also, don't expect the hefty pricetag to deter you from needing one once you have experienced it!

Here is a quick video of a lucky bystander trying it out at ShotShow 2010. As this was the first time he held the FPG, it's very apparent how intuitive the design is.

Spartan Imports also made a sweet (and more fancily produced) video for the FPG that you should check out as well. Hey look, it can actually fire!
